​​​At Holy Cross we have a very successful 'buddy' system in place. ​Each Prep and Year One class has a buddy class.  The buddy system operates on an informal basis, with class teachers and students planning collaborative experiences together.

The purpose of the buddy system is:

• To give a sense of belonging and security to the new members of the school community.
• To allow and encourage interaction between children of different year levels.
• To allow the children the opportunity to learn in a mixed-aged environment.
• To promote positive role-modelling and scaffolding of learning.
• To allow children to develop leadership and mentoring skills.
• To share and celebrate learning.
